Ronan Regan Biography
Rónán Regan is a Traditional Irish Musician and Dancer, Composer and Choreographer from Salthill, Galway. He currently lives in Galway dividing his time between teaching on Inis Mór, Árainn where he is a primary teacher in the local Scoil Lán Gaeilge and in Galway where he is immersed in music and dance projects. In addition to this, Rónán is an instructor of music and dance.
He wrote his thesis on the Leitrim style of music, specialising in the musical styles of Ben Lennon (Recipient of Civic Reception Award from Leitrim County Council in 2007 and TG4 Music Award, 2011) and Jim Connolly and completed his Masters in traditional music performance, with modules in sean-nós dance in University of Limerick, 2005.
Rónán released the instructional DVDs 'Dance Sean-Nós' with Maldon Meehan in 2005 featuring the renowned box player Johnny O'Halloran from Inish Bofin and 'Dance Sean-Nós for beginners' in 2009 featuring guest dancers and the virtuoso box player P.J. Hernon from Connemara.
He released the CD 'Drumshanbows, A Celebration of Traditional Music from Leitrim and the Surrounding Hinterland' in March 2014. This fiddle duet with Irene Guckian; featuring some of Rónán's compositions; includes guest artists such as Paddy Ryan (fiddle), Mick Blake (piano), Ciaran Curran (bouzouki) and Tommy Murray (vocals).
