Joe Mooney Summer School

  • Drumshanbo

Rónán and Irene usually provide fiddle tuition from 10:00am - 1:00pm from Monday to Saturday of the Joe Mooney Summer School (Round up class on Sat ends at 12:00pm).  This is a fantastic week for those interested in learning about the Leitrim / North Connacht fiddle style to learn bowing techniques, phrasing and settings of tunes from the rich repertoire and heritage of this area.  See you there!

Rónán provides a fun, instructive sean-nós dance workshop every Friday at the Joe Mooney Summer School from 3:30pm-6:30pm.  At 3:30pm the workshop covers Rónán's ALPHABET OF STEPS and STEP CREATION techniques.  At 4:30pm as the learner progresses they are given a chance to pick up some improvers steps; the final hour challenges dancers with more intricate STEP CREATION techniques and some intermediate / advanced steps.

Every July Drumshanbo plays host to the award winning Joe Mooney Summer School. This is a week long traditional festival of Irish music, song and dance named after the man who did so much to promote the cause of Leitrim and his beloved town.
